The Haemodialysis Dialyser — commonly referred to as the artificial kidney — is the core filtration component of every haemodialysis session. It contains thousands of hollow semi-permeable fibres through which blood passes, allowing waste products, excess fluids, and toxins to be filtered out via diffusion and convection into the dialysate fluid. Available in membrane surface areas ranging from H1.4 to H2.1 (1.4m² to 2.1m²), these dialysers cater to a range of patient body sizes and clinical prescriptions, from smaller or elderly patients to larger adults requiring higher clearance rates.
